Learning Goal: Search for and locate patient in low visibility environment. Free patient by stabilizing/cutting/lifting using hand operated combi tool with awareness to CIS.
Car vs. Semi Side Underrun
Learning Goal: Capture suspension, stabilize and lift with hydraulic PowerShore, move vehicle out from underneath, remove doors and dash lift to remove patient.
Rapid vs. Controlled Patient Release
Stabilization, patient access and determination conditions for rapid vs controlled removal of the patient, vehicle disentanglement.
Progressive Lifting/Crush Injury Syndrome
Learning Goal: Understand CIS and use progressive lifting to free patient.
Dr. Andrew Stevens (Associate Medical Director with Allina Health Emergency Medical Service)
Dr. Stevens formerly held positions of Deputy Medical Director for Indianapolis EMS, Indianapolis Fire Department and Wayne Township Fire Department, Assistant Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine, Deputy Medical Director for the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police S.W.A.T. team, and Medical Director of the Mazda Road to Indy Racing Series.
He is a current physician member of the IndyCar Safety Team.
